Ipswich Academy

Ipswich Academy

Our students have an excellent work ethic, a real interest in their studies and ambitious aspirations for the future. Our high standards give our students every opportunity to be successful.

We are clear about our vision; we are clear about how we are going to achieve this; and we are very clear that we want parents/carers to work with us. We believe that great communication and support between parents/carers and our staff is key to a child’s successful school experience.

We are an inclusive school, which means that we feel that every child should be able to participate in every aspect of school life with a sense of belonging and a sense of being valued.

We do this by using a nurturing approach and through activities which promote social skills and emotional development, all within a safe, affirming and consistent environment. Pipers Vale Gymnastics

We opened in November 1999 being one of the first purpose-built facilities to benefit from National Lottery funding and, having undergone a series of extensions and improvements over the years, celebrated our 20th Birthday at our 2019 Xmas Show with further celebrations in our 21st Anniversary year at the Presentation Evening in February 2020.

The Centre now benefits from a designated recreational gymnasium as well as a competitive gymnasium, dance studio, treatment rooms and classroom / meeting room. The apparatus includes Asymmetric Bars, High Bars, Parallel Bars, High and Low Beams, Rings, Vaults, Pommels, Sprung Floor Area of competition standard, Tumble Track, Fast Track, Foam Pits, Trampettes and floor level Trampolines. It is one of the best gymnastic venues in the country with excellent viewing balconies where parents and guests can watch in comfort as the gymnasts participate.

Pipers Vale Gymnastics Club was established at the Centre when local clubs joined forces to become one of the largest and best equipped competitive gymnastics clubs in the country. The Club now has gymnasts competing at international level as well as National, Regional and County level; we also have gymnasts in the National, Regional and County squads.

Our facility is not just for the elite gymnasts you see on TV or those competing at high level but for use by the whole community. We organise structured courses and classes for all ages and abilities from Pre-School to Junior Advanced Recreational, casual Free Style Youth Activities, daily play sessions for Parent & Toddlers as well as school holiday sessions. We also have a well-established Schools programme in operation which caters for nursery schools right through to curriculum high school level.

We don’t just cater for children either… Tuesday and Thursday night is Adult Night, a fun informal chance to train or simply “have a go”.

Suffolk New College

Suffolk New College

Suffolk New College (SNC) is based in Suffolk with campuses in Ipswich, ‘On the Coast’ at Leiston (which was opened in September 2018) and the Rural Campus at Otley, acquired following the cessation of Easton and Otley College at the end of 2019. In addition, Suffolk New College has recently assumed responsibility for the Skills Centre in Halesworth, where provision commenced in September 2020. Suffolk New College has close links with the University of Suffolk as the Ipswich Campus is situated in what is known as the ‘Education Quarter’ of Ipswich and is close to the regenerated waterfront.

In this academic year, there are two thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine (2889) full-time and forty-six (46) part-time 16 – 18 year-old students, four hundred and thirty-four (434) full-time and one thousand two hundred and seventy-nine (1279) part-time 19+ students; six hundred and eighty-three (683) apprenticeships and eighty-four (84) Higher Education students.

The College focuses upon providing a curriculum that meets the needs of students, employers and the wider community. The offer takes into account the needs of providing a skilled workforce for the future. Nine curriculum areas are providing an extensive range of learning, including Science and Digital Industries; Care Industries; Creative Arts; Engineering and Construction; Rural; Service Industries; Foundation Learning; English and Mathematics; ESOL, and Apprenticeships.

Ipswich has been designated an Opportunity Area (OA) by the Department for Education. The Principal sits on the Partnership Board of the OA, which was formed in September 2017. It is one of the twelve areas in England chosen by the Government as such and the purpose is to unlock the potential of England’s young people through education. The partnership working arising from this has supported the focus upon the eight Gatsby Benchmarks and it was considered that the College had made good progress in addressing these.

The Values of Suffolk New College are ‘openness and trust; having a learning culture to support all staff; providing platforms for expressing opinions, concerns and views for all staff at all levels; involvement in decision making; recognising, appreciating and celebrating achievement and success areas; actively encouraging and finding time for continued professional development, creating time to generate new ideas and experiment; and valuing and respecting differences and views of others, promoting diversity’. In the pages that follow, evidence will be described to illustrate these achievements. The strapline for the college is, ‘Exceptional Student Experience,’ and this will be evidenced by, for example, a range of documented feedback from students.

There are eleven Strategic Aims. Of particular note are those relating to the promotion and response to the student voice, whilst raising aspirations to gain high-level qualifications; working closely and actively with employers so that the student experience is enhanced and securing and celebrating positive destinations or further academic progression for all students. The support to students described within the College’s Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Statement of Service and Careers Strategy are closely aligned and support organisational strategic aims through a service that is described as student-centred and solutions-focused; a service which is flexible and proactive, and which meets student needs; uses information about students objectively to inform the support and guidance provided; work collaboratively with students to review progress, plan next steps and strategies to achieve these; collaborate with external partners to share information appropriately both ways in the interest of securing high-quality outcomes for the students, and to listen to feedback and proactively respond in the spirit of continuous improvement.

Within the Strategic Plan, there is a section relating to the labour market. This shows how the College will support projects such as the Sizewell C Nuclear Power project and the positioning of the campus at Leiston will enhance this. There are plans to develop partnerships along the East Anglian Coast with the University and East Coast College in the provision of qualifications relevant to, for example, food and food production; and wind farm provision. There is a new Digital Hub to be built in Rope Walk in Ipswich, which is very close to the campus and is another indicator of the College’s response to employer need. The College is investigating the feasibility of a specialist ICT link with British Telecom (BT) at Martlesham and reflects upon its position at the beginning of the Cambridge Corridor. There is also potential development of new qualifications within Construction Services and Engineering.

St Josephs College

St Joseph’s College

It’s not easy to put it into words, as the real difference is in our culture – which probably has to be experienced first-hand to be really understood.

Our difference is most evident in the behaviour of our students – from their sense of community, their respect and support for others, their confidence and courtesy, their aspiration and achievement, their effort, enthusiasm and eagerness to help.
It is equally present in every interaction between staff and students – the mutual faith and trust, the care and support, the recognition that everyone is here to enjoy their time and to do everything the best they can.

You will get an immediate impression by simply walking up the drive – into 60 acres of  beautiful parkland near to the centre of Ipswich, providing the backdrop to the really important lessons in life, to a wealth of memories, and long-lasting friendships. Children who come to St Joseph’s either as day or boarding pupils have an unforgettable experience that forms a rich foundation to the rest of their lives.

Offering a seamless education from Nursery and Reception to Prep School, Senior School and Sixth Form, the College aspires to help to produce confident young people ready to take their place in the adult world.

In these pages you can find out more about what makes us tick – our ethos & aims. And you can also take a look at where we have come from – our history. You can also see where we are headed by reading our College Strategic Development Plan. But best of all, come and see for yourself what makes us different by joining us at a formal or informal Open Day, or just arrange a private visit. Every day is an open day at St Joseph’s.

Fit2Sport

Developments in science and technology have ushered in a sea of change in the field of sports and fitness. Athletes, trainers and fitness experts are leveraging every aspect of this development to review and revise different aspects of sports, right from the technique, the fitness, nutrition, psychology to the gear that the athlete uses and the clothes they wear. We are all witness to how this holistic approach coupled with a scientific basis has enabled athletes to better their performances par excellence. Sadly, most of the fitness programs that we come across still follow age old practices that are hardly reflective of what’s current and what’s best. At Fit2Sport we believe in following a scientific approach, we believe in Long Term Athletic development, we believe in the concept of recovery strategies and periodization.
